Position: Group Home Manager / QDDP

Department: Residential Services
Reports To: Program Director / Administrator
Status: Full-Time
Location: Suffolk, VA Group Home Residential Program

Position Summary

The Group Home Manager / Qualified Developmental Disabilities Professional (QDDP) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the residential group home, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered services to individuals with developmental disabilities. This role supervises direct support staff, monitors implementation of Individual Support Plans (ISPs), ensures regulatory compliance, and promotes the health, safety, and well-being of individuals receiving services.

The Group Home Manager ensures all services align with Virginia DBHDS, Medicaid Waiver, and Guided Care Services policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Oversight

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the group home.

  • Ensure individuals receive person-centered services consistent with their ISP goals and support needs.

  • Monitor implementation of behavior support plans, risk plans, and health support plans.

  • Ensure all residents receive assistance with daily living activities as needed.

Staff Supervision

  • Supervise, coach, and support Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).

  • Monitor staff performance and provide ongoing training and feedback.

  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage for all shifts.

  • Address staff performance concerns through corrective action when necessary.

Compliance and Documentation

  • Review daily progress notes, MARs, logs, and required documentation.

  • Ensure documentation meets DBHDS and Medicaid waiver standards.

  • Monitor incident reports and ensure appropriate follow-up actions occur.

  • Maintain compliance with all licensing and regulatory requirements.

Health and Safety

  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and rights of individuals supported.

  • Monitor medication administration practices.

  • Ensure the home environment is safe, clean, and compliant with regulations.

  • Coordinate and track medical appointments, follow-ups, and health monitoring.

Team Coordination

  • Participate in ISP meetings, quarterly reviews, and interdisciplinary team meetings.

  • Communicate regularly with families, support coordinators, medical professionals, and agency leadership.

  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and service transitions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred.

  • Must meet qualifications for Qualified Developmental Disabilities Professional (QDDP) under state regulations.

  • Minimum 2 years experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

  • Strong organizational and documentation review skills

  • Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and behavioral situations

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to assist individuals with mobility if necessary

  • Ability to respond to behavioral or emergency situations

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when needed

Compensation: $49,000.00 per year
